About d²

Dennis Davis is a full-time independent author and U.S. Army veteran whose storytelling roots began as a tabletop game master in his high school days in the early 1980’s, creating original D20 campaigns, worlds, and rule systems throughout his life. After a long career in information technology, he turned his focus fully to writing—bringing a lifetime of structured imagination into bold, genre-crossing fiction.

Early influences for his writing come from Robert Heinlein, Frank Herbert, Fredrick Pohl, Steven King, and Alen Edgar Poe. His concepts for robots and artificial intelligences come from movies like “Silent Running”, “Questor Tapes”, “Forbidden Planet”, and of course “Star Wars”. Isaac Asimov truly influenced his concept of the role Artificial Intelligence should interact with humans.

His work blends science fiction and fantasy with romantic tragedy, ghost stories, and cosmic horror, exploring love in its most dangerous and transformative forms. From demons who dare to feel, to ancient beings lost in time, to rulers of the dead who discover the cost of a mortal heart, his stories challenge the limits of emotion, power, and existence itself.

Based in Central Louisiana, Dennis has also worked as a ghostwriter and futurist, shaping visions of what humanity may one day become. In Cost of the Heart: Vol I – Into the Fire, he invites readers into a galaxy-spanning journey where love is forbidden, inevitable—and never without consequence.
